Can strain name be used for species name

I was searching for species of the Altered Schaedler flora for mice.

I stumbled over this case:

The genome is sequenced and has a strain name. I wonder if it would make sense to use the strain designation as the species name instead of the species place holder.

Hi Silas. What did you have in mind as a name? I think the complication here is that in general a species will encompass many genomes with many different strain IDs.
