Hi GTDB team,

Currently, the family NBVN01 is named based on the accession number of Zestosphaera tikiterensis (GTDB - Loading...). In the next update, would it be possible to have this updated to Zestosphaeraceae?

Thanks again for all the fantastic work you do to keep GTDB such an informative and useful tool for the scientific community!

Can you point us to the paper that proposed “Zestosphaeraceae”.

Hi Chris,

My apologies - I see the issue! We have proposed the genus Zestosphaera, but have not formally proposed a new family. Currently, the family is only present in GTDB as part of the restructuring of the Thermoprotei/Thermoprotei_A.

Just to clarify, if a new family is generated in GTDB using a named type genus, will that new family always be named using an accession number, at least until the family is proposed in a publication?
