I would like to report my accidental finding. I noticed that s__Hwangdonia sp009498295 actually refers to the genome of the type strain of the species Wocania indica. I guess the GTDB failed to correctly identify this genome because the NCBI database labels this genome as Oceanihabitans sp. IOP_32. This is clearly a case of mislabeling, likely due to the fact that the submitter originally reported this genome to be an Oceanihabitans sp. Also the Genbank accession CP040813 for this genome mentions an unpublished article “Oceanihabitans indica sp. nov…” However, I couldn’t find this paper; instead, I found an IJSEM article titled “Wocania indica gen. nov., sp. nov…” And in this article, the authors said that the type strain of W. indica is IOP_32 and its genome had been deposited under the accession CP040813. So it is likely the authors’ final taxonomic opinion is that the strain IOP_32 merits a new genus as Wocania instead of a new Oceanihabitans species.
My conclusion is that according to the GTDB’s opinion that Wocania be united with Hwangdonia, this IOP_32 genome should be better labeled as s__Hwangdonia indica rather than s__Hwangdonia sp009498295.
