Spongiisociales appears with a placeholder in GTDB226

Hi,

I just wanted to report that Spongiisociales (Actinomycetota, Acidimicrobiia; Register list for 16 new names including Spongiisocius variivorans sp. nov. | SeqCode Registry; priority date: 2023-08-25) still appears with the placeholder name o__UBA5794 in the current GTDB release.

Also, f__UBA5794 should be included as Benthobacteraceae, based on Benthobacter being described as belonging to f__UBA5794. This was only registered in the SeqCode August last year, but in case it’s missed…

Thanks for reporting this to us!

The order name has been now updated to Spongiisociales and this will be reflect in the upcoming release.
We are currently investigating why Benthobacter’s type genome is missing from the files. I will let you know if there are issues from NCBI side so that it was not picked as part of Assembly dataset.

Hi again,

The reason we do not have the type genome of Benthobacter is that it is not available for download via FTP as part of the NCBI Assembly Database. This needs to be clarified with NCBI, as there may be a valid reason why it was not included. However, it is unusual that the genome appears in the Assembly Database online.
